The Huntsville Track Club and Huntsville Sports Commission are proud to offer a series of luxury tours through historic and exciting portions of Huntsville (aka Rocket City). These limited excursions come in a variety of distances from 3.1 miles all the way up to 26.2 miles, with several options in between. Some agencies offer incredibly boring transportation options such as boat, rail, automobile, or hot air balloon, but here at HTC/HSC Travels we use something much more reliable … feet!
Yes, using the power of your own feet you can embark on an adventure through the various regions of inner and outer Huntsville (aka Rocket City). For each journey you undertake, you will receive a set of passport stamps to document your adventure.
And, for those who insist on multiple trips, if you complete more than two of our tours, you will not only receive your passport stamps, you will also receive a passport cover to hold them all together. For the truly dedicated, completing three tours will yield passport stamps, passport cover, and our special “I journeyed through the Rocket City” hat.

Rocket City Marathon
The Rocket City Marathon has been a fixture in North Alabama for over 45 years. Enjoy a scenic tour that rambles by Cosmic Christ, through Blossomwood, past rows of tombstones, downtown, uptown, around town, Campus 805, a mountainous endeavor, UAH, the US Space & Rocket Center, the Botanical Gardens, and Lowe Mill before returning to Big Spring Park and an indoor finish at the VBC. Our grandest tour is not for the faint of heart, but the reward is immeasurable.

Half the Rocket City Marathon(s)
For those wishing to see part of the grand tour, but not all, we offer two distinct travel packages. The first departure involves the front half of the grand tour, completing the journey at the inestimable Campus 805 where food and spirts await. The second departure begins later in the day at UAH to enjoy the back half of the grand tour.
Due to pesky immigration officials and limited seating, the back half can only take 800 voyagers. There is no limitation (at the moment) for the front half.
Regions visited by each half:
Front - Cosmic Christ, Blossomwood, Maple Hill, 5 Points, Veterans Park, Downtown, and Campus 805
Back - UAH, US Space & Rocket Center, Aviation Challenge, Botanical Gardens, Lowe Mill, Big Spring Park, and the VBC

Rocket City 10K
Enjoy a shorter excursion that visits Old Town, parts of 5 Points, and No Man’s Land before returning downtown and through Big Spring Park for an indoor finish at the VBC. This is a flat(ish) course with good opportunities for a fast trip.

Rocket City Mural Run 5K
This walker-friendly tour wanders past most of the murals in the downtown Huntsville area. It can be a fast trip, if that’s what you want, but it can also be an opportunity to stop and take pictures with each mural as you progress through the route. Strollers are welcome.

Rocket City Marathon Relay
Each team may have 2 to 5 members. The first runner may also compete in the full marathon (separate registration required).

Rocket City Kid’s Marathon
K-8th graders may become “marathoners” by logging 25.2 miles leading up to a final mile on race day that crosses the real finish line.
